Re: Advice - should I bring cat home....?

Oh, what to do, what to do.... went to see her yesterday... She was lovely although depressed .... phoned this morning and she is much more bright and eating, however not poo'ing and wee'ing - so that is 2 1/2 days without poo'ing... can't the vet give some laxatives to soften things... or see if things get moving.? .... going to see her later... am I just delaying the inevitable - I am so torn.... I go to work and just am on automatic pilot.... C x

Re: Advice - should I bring cat home....?

Hun this is good news

She is eating now

Give it 48 hours for the food to work through hun see if she can manage it and she may improve even more

HUGS xx

Re: Advice - should I bring cat home....?

im so sorry to hear of your dilemma im not an expert even though i have cats myself but jus based on fact that i love cats i think id keep her at vets jus knowin tht she/he was getting best possible care. id be forever panicking if they were at home tbh.
whatever u decide i think as long as it was best decision u felt for your kitty then it would have to b your decision.
im so sorry hugs for you and your cat ill b thinking of you all

Re: Advice - should I bring cat home....?

thanks - have decided not to bring her home... unless she poos or wees....
am going to try and get the Vet Surgeon (££££) to look at x-rays to offer opinion... they have suggested taking her tail off to put spine back in line (maybe), but I think that is putting her through more misery...(at my expense!)

If the Vet Surgeon says no way... then the decision is made... If she goes to the toilet in the next few days that's a whole different ball game all together !!!!

Pets - sometimes they're worse than the kids .... No, may be not!

Yes they refer their animals to Chester, which is hardly nearby, but when you live rural, nothing is near by...! I would imagine its the surgery that costs the fortune - spinal surgery! not the referral and opinion... - well I hope so anyway.

Re: Advice - should I bring cat home....?

I've followed this thread but not replied as quiet honeslty it's upsetting. I'm so sorry about your cat. I think it will be best for her if you just let her go to sleep. As hard as it is for you, I think it's the right thing for her x

Re: Advice - should I bring cat home....?

I think my head is telling me that, but at the moment my heart is winning.... stupid I know, but... I need to accept that I have done all I can before making that decision... I have said Friday is D-Day... if she has not poo'd or wee'd by then, then I don't think she ever will... the Vet has agreed with this decision... although he was a little surprised at her "mood" today (an improvement)... so.... I will know more this afternoon....

Thanks for the support x

Re: Advice - should I bring cat home....?

Its a real hell for you... and I do so sympathise.

I take it that her tail is just lying still, not moving around? this often happens as a result of nerve damage.

Really in a case like this the Vet should advise you, and if they have not, then I have to think its too early for them to do so.

If urine has to be expressed, then you cant go on..

I do however agree with you, leave things till Friday before making a decision, then at least you can look back on this and say, I did all I could.

No tail amputions, nothing till then.. She may still be afraid to move, and if she has had urine expressed, has no real reason to move..

She is eating, drinking.. I agree with the other poster, who says, this is positive, now she can hold onto solids in the system for a long time, but urine, no.. so lets pray she drinks and drinks and has to use that tray..
