Question Biting Claws

Hi - I have 2 x 6 month old kittens. One of them has bitten off 3 claws - not down to the quick though and it looks like a shell i.e., not solid. The remainder of the claw looks ragged now. Any ideas why? This has happened over the last few weeks and the last one last night and he was really going for it.

Thanks

Re: Biting Claws

Some cats who dont use scratching posts, carpets etc to sharpen claws, find themselves with the splitting claws, the outer shell seems to be shed, and without scratching something really solid, like a tree, they cant get it off completely so instead some will chew the nails.

I have an older cat who does this now. My fault as I threw out her favourite coconut mat.

Must buy her a new one...

Anyway its nothing to really worry about.

haha... yes. I need to, this particular cat, comes to bed and insists on sleeping between my husband and I, with her head on my pillow.. she then waits till we are just about in a sound sleep, and then starts the nail biting routine... YAWN.. cant think why we are always so tired...

I don't think I've got the confidence to do it myself, especially when one of them will only let me stroke/touch his paws when he is asleep lol
