Red face Lycine

hello, i have a thread below that goes into detail about little Erics health and a couple of people have suggested i give him lycine and that it is available from holland and barratt. i've just spoken with Holland and barrett on the phone and they only have the 500mg tablets.... would these be alright to give to him?? he's good at taking tablets so that wouldnt be an issue.

Thanks

Re: Lycine

L-lysine is usually dosed at 500 mg daily for cats with herpes or immune issues. However those 500 mg pills are very large.

I don't know if you would want to try pilling a cat with something that big.

Re: Lycine

This is better value and you can mix it in with his food:

Re: Lycine

I used to use these - https://www.yourhealthfoodstore.co.u..._l_lysine.html they are 500mg capsules, but you can open the capsule and mix in with food.

Or this is a veterinary lysine paste vetscriptions.co.uk: Enisyl-F 100ml. Palatable L-Lysine Paste for cats. - which is supposed to be palatable!

500mg is recommended for a flare up - with 250mg as a maintenance dose.

Re: Lycine

Terrific links, guys.

I use the pure powdered form and mix it in a suspension fluid myself, but I've been doing that for many years, and as there are many other choices now, I don't usually mention my methods.

We normally give ours around half a teaspoon once a day as an immune boost with their food.
