New Kitten with bloody mucus in stool...

I have taken on 2 kittens who arrived today, thet seem healthy and are very bright in themselves but the little girl has just done a fairly runny stool that had a small amount of bloody mucus in it, should I be worried or should I wait and see what the next few are like, and should I continue feeding them or just leave their biscuits down, thankyou for any replies in advance

Re: New Kitten with bloody mucus in stool...

Was it bright red fresh blood? If so it's not too much of a worry. If they have the runs it's prob the stress of a new home etc. biscuits may make it worse. I suggest feeding cooked chicken, little and often, something bland for a few days to see how things are. Are they wormed? If they are being sick etc, you must take them to a vet they can dehydrate very quick. x

No they aren't being sick and they are/were wormed as they came from CPL, I shall get on and cook some chicken for them and she how she goes.

It's probably just an upset tum at the stress of a new home. Chicken should help settle things.

Re: New Kitten with bloody mucus in stool...

We had this when we got our two kittens. One had fresh blood and the runs on the second day we had them. For ours, it seemed to be because we fed them whiskas, I think it was too rich and as a result gave them the runs. The vet we asked also said they could get this if we were feeding different to what they had at their previous home. Not sure if that helps but I hope they get better soon
