Podge Belly

Timmy seems to have a distended belly. The vet noticed it the other day and so he is going in for an ultrasound tomorrow but I was just wondering if any of you other Cat owners/servants have had this in your furbabies.

Timmy is just 14 weeks old and is a normal kitten. It's just that his tummy is big and round and hard. I've just had a prod around and it is bigger on one side than the other so now I am scared that it is something not very good at all

Awww, bless poor Timmy. I'm no expert but at least the vet is doing an ultra sound tomorrow so you can find out what's causing it and get it sorted. Good luck for tomorrow, try not to worry, I'm sure he'll be fine
Murray had an ultra sound on her heart on friday, I was so surprised she actually stayed still long enough for them to see anything!!!
Let us know how you get on

Hiya hun

There are literally hundreds of things it could be, some relatively minor and some more serious... Noone can really advise you on what it could be because i would bet that everyone will have a different theory.

BIG hugs and good luck tomorrow, hope its nothing too serious xxx

Re: Podge Belly

Vets is off so Timmy's podge belly will have to wait for another day.

I really need to come up with a strategy when trying to get him in the pet carrier, currently he is behind the washing machine and refusing to come out

Re: Podge Belly

It's off because I can't get to him at all, I've tried moving the washing machine but no luck at all.

I did speak to the vet and he assured me that when he checked over Timmy last week that it wasn't something to be too concerned with so once Timmy gets out of his hiding spot I will book him in again for this week.

God now I feel really bad but seriously he is acting like a normal kitten just hiding behind the washing machine

Re: Podge Belly

aww no hun!

Ok for future reference, you could try giving him his meals in his cat carrier... just leave the door open and give him all his meals in there... he'll soon come to accept it and see it as a positive thing

Re: Podge Belly

We have tuna down for him as it was the smelliest stuff, even Tigsy eating it didn't tempt him to come out

I've left him in the kitchen on his own to see if he ventures out but he is very stubborn.

On a better note though his eye has cleared up really well with the drops he had
