new kitten still ill - can it die from worms?

Kitten was said to have been wormed already, worming it again now (from vets). Not eating/drinking well - can it be fatal? Dead worms seen in runny poo today, kitten very, very thin. Just 7 weeks old. We are all very worried

Re: new kitten still ill - can it die from worms?

Wow, 7 weeks, when did you get her ? Thats very young.
Yes, worms can be fatal. As there are dead ones, the wormer is obviously working. I will only use vet prescribed wormers on mine. I get it online from vetmedics. It's Panacur or Drontal which my vets use anyway. i prefer Panacur paste as it's gentle on tiny kittens tummys What did the vet say about her condition & runny poo ? To boost her up you need to give her small frequent meals, fresh raw mince, cooked white fish, cooked chicken, they are all good for kittens tums. Some good quality kitten biscuit too. Lots of loves too, which i'm sure you are giving anyway
If you are that worried I would take her back to your vets to be honest

Oh poor kitten. If she is not eating/drinking I'd take her to the vets straight away as a matter of urgency as I think she needs to be put on a drip asap and given vital fluids and maybe some ABs. The poor kitten is indeed very sick.

oh no poor little mite! Worms can kill but at least you can see some dead ones coming out.

I use Panacur paste too for Alfie, I got it from the vets. good stuff

Good luck with little one, please let us know how she gets on!

Re: new kitten still ill - can it die from worms?

We have had him for just over a week now. We did check if he was ok to leave mum and were told yes by the seller, but looking at other peoples threads it was too young. Seller will not take him back.
It is panacur we are giving him incidentally and thank you to everyone for their comments so far. We have everything crossed for him.

Ahhhh glad you can get him in tonight and good you are syringing him water. Sounds like he's better off with you and away from his old owners. Keep up the hard work and let us know how he gets along tonight. Thoughts and prayers for your little baby. Vic x

Thats great, you are doing all the right things for him To be honest I would'nt send him back anyway, he's better off with you. Whoever sold him to you obviously did'nt know what they were doing for him to be in such a state, bless him. Let us know how things go
