Unhappy Poor Timmy

My on going kitten saga continues

Took Timmy to the vets this afternoon as he had a weeping eye and was a bit lethargic. She looked him over and he has a slight temperature and "a pouch" in his belly which she fixed by worming him.

She said it was the case of cat flu just coming back so she gave him an injection of long working antibiotics and I take him back on wednesday to see how he is going.

Poor little thing is walking around with one eye closed as it keeps weeping, I am trying to get hold of him to wipe his eye with warm cotton wool but am having no luck so far

Any tips or hints to help him get over his flu would be greatful as I feel soo sorry for him

Re: Poor Timmy

Hi

One of my kittens had just recovered from cat flu symptoms (apparently brought on by vaccination) when I got her. She was still sneezing ocassionally and her general condition was not great. I read on this forum somewhere that L-Lysine can be given to cats as an immune system booster and so bought this on line at Natures Best but think you can also get it at Holland & Barrett. I gave half of each 500mg tablet ground up on her food morning and evening for about a month and am sure this helped her.

Hope all goes well with your new kitties

Good advice about the L-Lysine and cat flu! But the tablets sold in Holland and Barrett contain sulphites which could cause breathing difficulty. This could be a disaster in a cat flu kitten. Food suppliements are not always safe to use, i would recommend a chat with the vet first about the type and dose. Some food suppliements contain other ingredients that can be harmful. Alot these can cause liver/kidney problems with long term use.

Re: Poor Timmy

We've used this one for some time with no problems:

L-Lysine

It's easier to use too as it's a powder.

Re: Poor Timmy

Timmy went back for a check up today (along with Tigsy for her first injection, that was a nightmare and a half).

He has conjunctivitis in his eye so has some eye drops to take. The vet was loooovely but I think that might have something to do with him being a young lad and me unknowingly showing my boobs due to the top I was wearing

Timmy had a full check over and his temperature was okay, he had orange drops which turned green in his eye just to check to see if there was any damage to his eye.

The only concerning thing is that he still has a distended bowel and they said it could be because of worms so they will re-worm him but they do want to do an ultrasound on Monday when I take him back just to make sure. Other than that he loved the vet as he found Timmy's tickly spot and so he promptly rolled over for cuddles little Tart!

Now just got to find some money to pay for everything as I have no work at the moment
