Toothpaste

Right, I'm going to start cleaning my kitten's teeth soon and have been looking at the most popular cat toothpastes available, which appear to be Hatchwells, Logic Gel and Plaque Off. Hatchwells is reasonably priced but could be a hassle since I'll need to massage it into their gums with a finger brush, Logic Gel is supposed to be very good but I'm not sure exactly how it works, and Plaque Off seems easiest to use but I'm worried that the kittens won't like the taste of their food once it's been added.

So what would everybody recommend?

raw chicken wings! That's what I suggest much more natural and healthy for them.

Re: Toothpaste

There's a new product out not sure if you've heard of it, Petzlife Oral care gel which can be used on cats and dogs and you apply it either with finger or soft toothbrush and it breaks down the plaque etc without having to brush. It's applied daily until the teeth are clear then 3-4 days thereafter... I've just started a trial run on my dog at the moment with a view to stocking it
here's the link PetzLife Products Inc - "Dedicated to Improving Pets Lives

Re: Toothpaste

I use 'Virbac Enzymatic toothpaste'... available at veterinary practices. Its one of the best on the market, because it is enzymatic. It breaks down plaque better than regular pet toothpastes, and good if a pet won't let you brush but will eat the paste... My cats love it!!!!!

Re: Toothpaste

You can get virbac products online, probably much cheaper than the vets.

Out of the list you have said, I think logic gel is probably the best. It has an enzyme in it that helps soften plaque. Its OK taken orally, very palatable so your kittens will probably just take it from the tube. It is better brushed on though. If they are still fairly young, then its an ideal time to introduce them to a toothbrush - the pet ones always look to large, but some supermarket baby's first toothbrushes have a smaller head and soft bristles. If you get the used to the routine now, they may not be overly keen at first but will get used to it, especially if they love the taste of the paste you use.

A good chomp on raw will help keep teeth plaque free to as has already been said.

Re: Toothpaste

I use raw chicken wings too, just keep an he dosn't get constipated. I give mine once a week, just the wing & give him the raw chicken fron the higher part. Just in case the bone is too big. Muscle meat is better for kitty than pure breast.
