Nutritious Gravy
Hello
We have a very sick kitty at the moment who doesn't have a good appetite. She'll nibble on biscuits (seems to prefer Science Plan ones at the moment) and will lick the gravy from wet food. She won't eat the lumps, she'll also turn her nose up at food with jelly and any high meat content food. All she'll eat is gravy and biscuits! Whilst this isn't the most economic way of feeding a cat, we don't really care about that at this point - the only thing we're concerned about is getting enough food into her. So, my question is - does anyone know which food has the "best" gravy? Currently we're feeding her a mixture of Whiskers, Purina Gourmet and I've just tried a tin of Sainbury's own (lots of gravy!). |

Re: Nutritious Gravy
she could just be a fussy cat have you given her some cooked chicken see if she eats that?
Some cats dont eat wet food and some dont eat dry, as i said some are fussy? so long as she has plenty of water and is drinking ok i wouldnt worry too much at this stage |

Re: Nutritious Gravy
My girlie will only eat biscuits but recently she ate a pouch of beef in gravy (have tried every variety since!) but now only licks the gravy off too.
She likes these ones the best Purina One Cat Natural Balance Pouch Beef 85g product information - Tesco.com Not the greatest nutritional value but it's a start. Also I think you can buy gravy for cats in bottles like you do milk. I'm sure I saw it at pets at home but can't find it on their website, may be worth looking up.

Re: Nutritious Gravy
Before she became ill she was rather picky (only really liked biscuits) but at least had a good appetite and it was her appetite going that flagged there was something wrong with her.
She is now very very weak (she's lost about 25% of her bodyweight!) and it is it's crucial that we get as much food into her as possible to help her get her strength back. I've tried pretty much everything I could think of: cooked chicken, cooked duck, cooked lamb mince, cooked beef mince, raw tuna steak, cooked tuna steak, tinned tuna, tinned sardines, tinned mackrel, about 8 or 9 different types of wet food and about 5 or 6 different kinds of biscuits. Her current diet of a few biscuits and some gravy isn't ideal (or as much as I'd like) but at least she's eating something. I'm fully open to suggestions and will consider just about anything. |
