Re: To vaccinate or not to vaccinate?

thanks for that, he is having a further blood work, xrays and scans under sedation today, so lets hope we have some news soon. The vet I spoke to yesterday said it could be parasitic? but I imagine she was trying to give me best case scenario.....

Re: To vaccinate or not to vaccinate?

my vet also used to say it had to be once a year or if it went over they would have to have an additonal booster shot

i dont know if it outweighs the risk or has benefits my cat has liver probs now but my other cat is fine so who knows

Re: To vaccinate or not to vaccinate?

Wow what a refreshing thread to read!! Its nice to know other people are aware of the over vaccinating 'thing' our vets seem to have!! I vaccinate all my animals until they are 4 years old and then according to my vet they have enough cover for the rest of their lives. Sadly my horse does still have to be done every year so he can take part in competitions but my dogs and cats have always been done this way and none of them have had any complications. Interestingly enough my old dog who I naively vaccinated yearly through misguided belief in my then vet, now has a blood disorder thought to be bought on by over vaccinating..you can imagine how distraught I was to learn I was the cause of this disease.

Re: To vaccinate or not to vaccinate?

Pleased to report that all tests clear - his weight loss is due to stress!!

Vet prescribed Hills AD which he turns his nose up at, so now she has suggested kitten food, feliway diffusers and zylkene caps 75mg daily. Have read a number of threads both on here and moneysaving expert and am very interested in what the outcome will be. Not sure we can wait 4 weeks as if he doesn't start putting weight on soon, he'll be starved to death!!
