I think it's just a matter of getting as much info so you can to decide whats best for him. I think you have come to the right site. There are a lot of friendly people on here with a lot of good advice.
As for my little one i think he must have been born with it. As i only adopted him 5 months ago i have no history. The vet told me if he starts to cough or pant and become breathless then bring him to the surgery Asap.
Keep in touch and let us know how he's doing and when you have a minute pop their photos on here so we can see them.

Hi Ziggy
Yes they are both British short hair and molly who's on my profile with cream long fur was suppose to be a short hair but came out as a fluff!!
Harley has not lost weight 'cause he's 1year 4 months old he's got to fill out a bit.
With Perry eyes as a rule in bright day light the pupils are small but in dull light the pupils are large. Just asked Hubby on that one.
You can test his sight by perhaps playing with some string and see if he follows it with his eyes.
Is he having Tablets for his high blood pressure?

Re: My cat has crf chronic renal failure

Perry came home late thursday afternoon ,his toxin levels had decreased, but he was still unwell, but the vet could not keep him on the drip indefinately.
He was pleased to be home and was eating reasonably well.On friday he ate a little breakfast but went back to sleep with my son who works nights.I thought i had better check to see how hw was, and see if he wanted a toilet.
He got off the bed but just laid down on the landing and did not look too good,so i phoned the vet and they tiold me to bring him straight in. He was really looking poorly by then, as we were getting into the car he was laying in my son's arms and he just moved his head a littitle and his eye filled with blood.
The vet said he had had a haemorrage and he had gone blind,as he got up his blood pressure had risen too high and caused this to happen, it was because after coming of the drip his kidneys were too far gone and the toxin built uo so quickly, so to end his suffering he was put to sleep at just 6 years old, we are all devastated by his loss he was such a kind gentle soul, and we miss he so much, his sister Molly has been looking for him it is so sad for her, i am typing this still crying so thank you all for taking an interest in my dear sweet Perry, R.I.P my sweetheart Perry
