Exclamation My cat's nipples

My cat is 10 years old and for aaages now she has had blue rings which are around four of her nipples, the vets are baffled by it and so is everyone else who has had cats. She also has a very bad infection due to her allergy to fleas, which has left her with swollen glands on her lower abdomen, this is being treated by steroids and penicillin but they aren't decreasing in size. The vets aren't doing anything more about her swollen lumps and are concentrating on her allergy to fleas instead.

Has anyone ever seen this on a cat before? Does anyone know anything about her condition, please get in touch if you do.

Many Thanks.

Re: My cat's nipples

Hi there you should use frontline-combi on your cat, then she wont suffer from the allergic reaction. If your not happy with your vet ask to see someone elsenot sure about rings on nipples,if shes lived with them all those years i wouldnt worry.

Re: My cat's nipples

My mum gets frontline-combi every month for her, and that seems to work. We asked to see another vet and they've put her on steroids and basically tested to see how low of a dosage she could go before it went back to square one..looks like she's on steroids for the rest of her life. the lumps still don't seem to be going down though and the rings are still there. She seems fine though, still playing like a ten week old kitten, not a ten year old cat so hopefully she will live a long happy life.

Thanks for all your help Really appreciated.

Re: My cat's nipples

Thats good news at least, ask your vet to explain to you properly whats happening and why,so that when you come away you have an understanding of whats going on,don't feel that you can't ask questions and keep asking til you are satisified and no question is too daftSometimes it seems like the issue we're concerned with isn't being dealt with or is being overlooked but usually it is being dealt with it's just as with doctors for humans they have to eliminate the possible smaller issues before they can move on
