Hellen is on a distinguished road
Question Sedatives for travelling

I’m rehomeing some very very nervous cats, travelling them for possibly upto 5 hours.

Would anyone advise using a sedative?

It would need to be ‘over the counter’ and easily administered – I wouldn’t want to stress them even more.

X Hellen

HI i think you can get calming stuff from pet shops,if you consult vet they can probably give you something a bit more effective.

Just thought of this: Feliway

Might be better than an actual sedative! Most vets and pet shops stock it!

Yeah it's natural phermones so better than using chemical sedatives. It just offers a calming effect. You spray it on the inside of the carrier before you put the cats in. It's like the DAP stuff for dogs.

It's supposed to be good stuff, I think it is one of those hit and miss kind of things though, it works for some and not for others.

How far are you travelling? I'm sure they'll be fine without. The cats that Hellen is bringing to me are very nervous though! Had a bit of a rough start to life I think!
