My cat keeps being sick!

First she was sick every night and now every other night. It is always between four and six am and she brings up hair and clear liquid or a little food. She does not seem herself either, though she has had a small flea problem and my Mum says she is multing. I'm really worried, she had a couple of very small cuts around her neck from scratching because of the fleas, we brush her with an electric flea comb about four or five times a day, but she is a little scruffy looking and more bad tempered than usual. She seems healthy in every other way, she is playing and eating well.

She has clear eyes and ears, cleen and healthy teeth and breath, no lumps or bumps that can be felt. Her breathing is good, she gets no tidbits that are unhealthy, she gets cheese, chicken, ham and turkey when there bought for sandwhiches. She also gets the odd drop of Cravendale milk, but we don't give her that too often.

I love my cat and I'm really worried, she is three years old.

Hi, has she always had Cravendale milk and is she an indoor kitty or does she go out?

Re: My cat keeps being sick!

She has had it in the past, but she has had more reciently as a treat, because she has been suffering with the fleas. Sometimes we giver her reguler milk too. She is an indoor Kitty, right from when she was a kitten.

She does something else reciently too, she twitches her back a lot and goes running round like a loon and keeps trying to get behind the TV. She has never had fleas before, we don't know where there coming from and even though she does not have many and it seems she is picking them up, we can't seem to get rid of them completly.

She will only eat Whiskas O' Fishy, she wont eat any meat cat food at all.

Re: My cat keeps being sick!

Cats do 'jump' and run around a lot when they have fleas, as they can't get comfy and they jump when they are literally being bitten. When we got Lottie she had a very bad flea allergy, and the vet said this would definitely have made her feel under the weather. Did you Frontline her and treat the house and her bed etc.? Her vomiting might be furballs if she's bringing up fur, but if it continues I would definitely take a trip to mr. vet.

Re: My cat keeps being sick!

Hi there,

Does she have food available all the time, or do you have set meal times? If so, when does she have her last meal for the day?

Re: My cat keeps being sick!

Hmm then if it was my cat I'd take her to the vet for a checkup, and also to get proper flea medicine.

Better safe than sorry

Re: My cat keeps being sick!

your cat needs to be treated with a veterinary worm and flea treatment, not a supermarket brand.she also has a hairball issue which can be helped by giving her a hairball remedy paste, available from petshops.
cats,as a rule should not be given cows milk,as they are lactose intollerant, milk has no nutritional value to your cat now,a good quality complete food will give her all she needs
It sound like she could be having a allergic reaction to the flea bites, she could end up with bald patches and sores, which could lead to infection if left untreated.

Re: My cat keeps being sick!

To be honest I would take her to the vets and they will give you something for the fleas - they could also be in your home so its a vicious cycle.

I would probably stop giving her milk too as its not very good for them in general.
