It really varies between cats! My girls did the job! Especially Lilo, i never had to do a thing.
But really it does vary. If you notice that the kittens have been pooing/weeing then put them in the tray on regular occassions. A lot of kittens aren't very subtle when they want to 'go' so once you see them circling and especially ready to squat then quickly but gently put them in the tray.
As Sakiou has said if you find a poo then put it in the tray, kittens will smell the scent of their 'done' poo and normally go int he same place.

I will be having a look in the album!! lol!
