Re: wet or dry food

Hi,

I never knew I should freeze then defrost thanks AJ!! Does anyone feed heart or livers, I am debating trying that with my boys but a bit unsure, and if you feed raw with bones do you just put it down as it is?

Sorry for all the questions guys,

BTW I think people off here should be paid comission by zooplus, they must make a fortune off you all! Im trying to get an order off them from here, its a pain in the bottom lol.

Izzie

Re: wet or dry food

Hmmm interesting, when I posted about feeding a kitten the majority of people recommended wet food over dry, but on this thread it seems to be the other way round!

I know most commercial brands are full of rubbish, but isn't better quality wet food (Hi-Life/Applaws etc) better nutritionally than dry alone?

I feed Orijen too but he far prefers the wet stuff!

Re: wet or dry food

My cats are outdoor cats and they have a diet of wet food as the flatly refuse to eat dry. Except for in the summer as thats all they get coz of the flies.

They also like to add to their diet with raw meat that they catch themselves........birds, mice someones rabbit.......

......that was bad as i felt really alfawl, i replaced the rabbit, but i still feel really bad, but ri was just pray to my cat so hes not to blame!

Izzie,

The only things that need to be frozen before consumption are wild boar and rabbit, anything else is ok to feed directly.

I feed a lot of heart to my cats and dog (Ox, Lamb, Sow, Veal, Chicken). They have a preference for veal. Do not feed too much liver as sometimes it goes straight through them. If you are feedinf a mainly raw diet you should feed about 5%

Wet food is far better than dry due to dry requiring cats to drink lots of water and their kidneys are not built for that.
