I wouldn't give my cats any pouched/canned food now knowing whats in it!

What are you planning on feeding your kitten then Trish?

I guess that innitialy i'll have to give him what the breeder has been feeding him with but then i want to give him whathever it's best for him

Not trying to cause a problem but just wanted to know! I was told dogs should not be fed raw meat as domestic dogs do not have the bacteria etc in their stomachs to be able to cope with it and they could get salmonela etc due to it not being a fresh kill. I assumed this would be the case with cats also so how and what do you feed them?

My vet says that wet food alone is bad for cats teeth and a complete dry food is better nutrient wise and for clean teeth to prevent tarter build up.

Although Alfie prefers wet food, and I can't blame him as it's only natural for a cat to want meat!

I just give Royal Canin biscuits and put a few chunks of wet food on top so he ends up eating both

hi, one of my cats is coming up to his 14th birthday and the vet says he has teeth for a cat half his age, think is due to feeding dry food, although they share a tin of wet in the morning between the three of them, so dry is definately the best for teeth.

yeh, I'm strugging to get Alfie off the pouches (what the breeder was feeding him) I'm sure they put something in it to get cats hooked!

Alfie just meows and meows untill I give him a pouch, he just eats the dry food I leave out as and when he pleases, but I'd prefer to just keep him on the Royal Canin dry!

Just out of interest, what dry foods would you recommend feeding cats? We've got two moggies, both between a year and a year and a half old...

Also.. how often do you feed raw meat? and where do you get it from? Is supermarket stuff OK... or am I a tool for suggesting such a thing

I feed the dry Purina Pro Plan Adult food to my 4 cats with a little meat and they are all thriving on it. Teeth seem ok, coats gleam and no toilet issues!
