Kitten diet

Hi,

What do you all think is the correct amount of food to feed a kitten of 14 weeks?

I leave a bowl of dry food, water, kitten milk and a jelly pouch.. I tend to leave it out for him as he tends to eat small amounts frequently.

Since I got him 3 weeks ago he's got alot heavier and rounder too! I don't want him to be overweight, but don't want him to go hungry either..

What does every one think?

Re: Kitten diet

yeh the breeder was feeding him 4 times a day but I tried this and he was only eating little amounts at a time, hence getting in the habbit of leaving the food out for him.. he was a little bit too thin when I got him aswell

i leave dry food down all the time, that way they eat what they need. dont worry about your kitty gettin fat at this age.

Re: Kitten diet

bee-whats his poo's like? Has he defo been wormed? Also wouldn't leave wet food for too long as it goes stale, our cats wouldn't touch it but if i let him our old man Noods would and this can upset their digestive system

Re: Kitten diet

he's having 2/3 poo's a day.. it seems to be ok.

He was wormed just before I got him (so I am told) but he's getting his 2nd jab on monday and wormed again at same time.

I hope he hasn't got worms.. I just hate the thought of them!

Re: Kitten diet

Wouldn't worry to much-worms are easily treated and eradicated I'm sure he'll be just fine, some of our girls like to eat little and often and as long as he's got the option of biccies and his water-he really will be fine, plus if you remove his wet food as soon as you realise he's not gonna eat it and leave it a little longer than usual before you offer him some more-he'll either let you know he's hungry or he'll adapt and eat when it's their-if it's one thing true of all cats it's they do not let themselves go hungry when they know they can have food He's still in the process of training youAlso it may not be worms, it could just be that his tummy is growing with his intake of food-as he maybe wasn't used to having this much food at his disposal before
