Re: Kitten feeding problem

Hiya Plas - hows the baby doing now? I think six weeks is so young that she may not have finished weaning yet, which is why you may have found it difficult to place food in front of her and get her eating it.

Let's hope that with the good advice from others, and with your own loving care, she is now doing much better. I guess you will have tried CimiCat from the vet or something similar from a good pet store?

Good wishes and hope both kittens are doing well.

Re: Kitten feeding problem

If the baby is still not eating solids you may want to try Applaws:

Applaws Cat Food Economy Case 48 x 70 g: Great Deals on Applaws Cat Food at zooplus

I got it for one of my little ones who wouldn't eat and he loved it, the problem now is getting him to eat anything else as it's not cheap.

We got 2 kittens they are 6 and a half weeks old, i know alot of you here dont like it if they are taken away to early, but we had to due to unseen events.

Now one of them is fine and healthy but the other one doesnt seem to be eating very well. we put down cat's milk, water , dry food and dry food with milk. But she doesnt like any of it the only way we can get her to eat is by putting milk on a spoon and she sits there quite happy drinking away. We try lowering the spoon into the bowl / saucer but she gets really close so she touches it has a sniff and begins to shake and get really scared.

We are really worried about her, we have tried so much stuff like putting the food on her paws and stuff. She just seems so scared of food and anything to do with it.

she seems happy in herself tho she runs and fights with the other one and really holds her own.

We phoned a couple of vets for advice and they said sometimes kittens can develop slower then others but if this continues she wont survive on cat milk, and that we need to try and force feed her

and anyone of you give me some ideas or tips to get her eating please, we really are worried sick.

thanks!!
Hi, If your kitten continues to take milk off a spoon then you could try giving her something called (LIQIVITE), it comes in a tin and i think you can get it from Pet Meds online. Also you could try her/him with something as well called (Nutri gel) you get it in a tube and they will lick it off the tube, mine go crazy for it. both things i have suggested are for building up, and putting weight on.
Hope your baby is ok

Blimey, I would hope that 4 years later this little kitten managed to eat. This thread is from 2008!

hi not been on this forum for weeks but had to answer your thread,
I got 2 kittens from pet shop in August 2010 before anyone says anything, yes I know I should not got them from pet-shop, but I wanted 2 kitties, they both seems settling in ok but after about a week one of them stopped eating or drinking at all I even got a little syringe to try to give her some water but no, I was so frightened of loosing her, I mentioned to a friend how I was frightened for her, her answer-shes missing her mum- as she had been taken from her mum so early vet told me she looked about 7 weeks old the other one Chloe was about 10-12 weeks old,
so that night after talking to my friend I put a hot water bottle inside a cat bed with a blanket over it and gave her a teddy, next morning she started eating, shes still a fussy eater but some days shell eat table legs lol.
sorry got off topic then
if she will not eat the cat biscuits, have you got the kitten ones as they are really smaller than the adult biscuits or put a bit of water on them to soften them so its more of a mush than hard crunchy, is her bowl wide enough and low enough they dont like their whiskers touching the side of the bowl where their food is, they like to relax to eat so a low bowl will help so they can sit on the floor to eat.
