Frontline treatment on cats

My two cats have been quite bad with fleas since the warmer weather kicked in (to be expected) and I have treated them with Frontline - once last month and again a few of days ago.

Frontline does not seem to be addressing the problem and they are still itching like mad. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm wondering whether the dose has recently been diluted or maybe there's a reason why.. I'm not sure whether to take them to the vets and get them a jab instead?

I have to be honest, frontline has never really worked for any of my animals. I keep using it because it's the only one my vet carries

Yes - it's really expensive in the vets. I have been buying it online most recently and got a shock when it hadn't arrived and had to buy from the vets!

My only experience of this before is with parents years ago. I'm sure we're not infested though as I remember this as a child and I haven't seen any visitors jumping around here and there etc...

Hiya,

I use frontline too, although I have read on line recently that fleas are actually becoming immune to the formula My Fizz has never had fleas **touch wood** that I know of, but I believe that there is another brand vets are starting to carry, I'll try looking it up later if I get the time.

Nic x

My Mum uses Frontline and it didnt work on her cat, nor did Bob Martin. I use Advantage 40 on my kittens which i get from the Vet. They have NEVER had fleas and it works brilliantly. Also i use Profender wormer on them!!!

Can I ask how much Advantage costs and can you use it on dogs?

Re: Frontline treatment on cats

Yes you can use it on Dogs but not advantage 40 as this is for cats. It costs anything from £7 - £15 for a pk of 3 or 4.

Have a look at this website, im not sure whether you will need a perscription for it but just have a look around the web

Advantage 40 (for small cat/dog/rabbit under 4kg) pack of 4 POM-Hyperdrug

That's quite a reasonable price, thanks for the link!
