Lump on my kittens neck

Hi,

Could anybody help me please.

I have only had my new Siamese Kitten since last Monday, so 5 days. I have noticed that he has a small lump on his neck.

Could this be a reaction from his last vacination? His last injection was on the 18th May and so it has now been one week.

Is it possible for a lump to stay there that long?

Re: Lump on my kittens neck

Was he vaccinated for leukaemia (FeLV) ? Every siamese and oriental I have had that has been vaccinated for that has had a lump come up on the back of their neck. It can take up to 2 weeks to go completely. None of them have bothered with the lump.

I would just keep an eye on it, make sure there is no hair loss or sore appearing at the site, and it should gradually disappear. Anything worrying about it, then I would take him back to the vets.

Re: Lump on my kittens neck

Thank you so much for the quick replies.

I have been worried and this has definately given me some peace of mind.

His last vaccination was the Leukaemia FeLV, so hopefully it is that, which has made me feel ton's better.

Thanks so much !!

No he hasn't been chipped. He's going to be a house cat.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Lump on my kittens neck

I would consider chipping anyway - as an indoor cat IF he get out accidently he is much more likely to not know how to get home - he won't kno the geography of the area or know the smells. I have heard to a breeder who was burgled and the cats let out - if they had been chipped she wold have seen them again! My birman is chipped for this very reason - I can trust my family to be careful with doors but other people just don't think somtimes and other people's kids are worse - one child let the cat out and the mother said (after a 10 min chase afound the block to get the cat back in) 'oh, when you said don't let the cat out I didn't think you meant it!' ????????? It doesn't cost that much and is worth the peace of mind.
