i also find that she does it late at night and she looks at me when she does it
i dont know if this is attention seeking?
i do put her paws up to it but it deosnt seem to encourage her

cats aint daft, my cat jumps on top of the tv to get my attention , its usually her way to tell me she wants food or its bed time.

She's just a bit horny and/or it could be that she needs a flat horizontal scratchpost but you do need to get her spayed or as said she could get serious health issues that can be fatal

you could try something like cat nip on the scratching post. When I first got my cats i had trouble getting them to scratch at it, I sprinkled a tiny (and I mean tiny) amount of cat nip onto the posts I'd bought within minutes the cats were using the posts rather than the underneath of the sofas or beds.
