Hi Hun

It is hard to comment when someone posts about a cats illness etc as we aren't trained vets...It could be numerous thing...cataract in her good eye, feeling unwell, ear infection...there are lots of possibilities you need to get her to a vet and find out the reason. Is there no way you could keep her as an indoor pet? Dont let her out of the house at the moment as that would be an accident waiting to happen.xx

Re: I think my cat is blind

Oh poor thing. She's had a bit of a rough time.
If she is going blind she'll be able to cope - it's not the end of the world. You may have to make adjustments for her, and she certainly would not be able to go out - but thousands of cats live as indoor cats and love the life (you should see our girls pout when they have to 'go out to get fresh air' in their runs!).

If she had a cataract I would think her eye would be milky. Does it look as it always has?

Whisk her off to the vet. It's probably something and nothing, but you need to make sure.

Re: I think my cat is blind

It's very worrying when your dear cat starts to bump into things, my old girl went blind, but it was due to high blood pressure, she did improve when she started the medication, so definitely get her checked out. If the blindness is permanent, it's just fine to keep her as a house cat, they adjust really well, but you won't be able to rearrange any furniture!!!!!

Re: I think my cat is blind

thanks everyone, she is my cat but stays with my mum as my dog doesnt like cats of all animals ! my mum and I are in a right state whither to keep her or put her to sleep as she thinks blindness is cruel, she is peeing and pooing in the house thinking she is outside so we dont know what to do.she is a right outdoor cat .we just feel she has been through enough without being blind on top of it all.I feel really sorry for the poor animal.I have told my mum to take her to the vets to check her out.

my mum is in tears then starts me off crying too on what to do and asks me what I want to happen to the cat,but what can I say ??its a shame to see the cat not finding her way about and bumping her face into everything and she cant find her litter tray at all.Im just thinking are we being cruel by keeping her ?

I think having her put to sleep is a bit harsh.
