farazzafar is on a distinguished road
hey all....i
jut a few questions i wanted to ask...i found an abandoned kitten in my house.it was 2 days old when i brought it in.very weak, almost like a small mouse.shes 10 days old today..i had no idea what to do with it so ive been feeding her cow,s milk...sometimes alone and sometimes the home made formula for kitten(a recipe from the internet..milk,mayo,yogurt,pedilyte,egg yolks.) there are lots of questions that i wanna ask...
1.ive been stimulating his genital and anal area regularly after each meal since day i found him(day2)...now he cries and kicks viciously every time i try to rub him after meals...the area has become tender and painful and we wont let me rub it for than 6,7 secs...he hasnt pooped now for like 60 hrs or somethin....any medication or cream that would relief the inflammation???...plus he hasn t been poopin every day since birth ...he sometimes poops every 48 hrs and sometimes needs a bit of vegetable oil as well...he gets really bloated sometimes...the whole abdomen is ver distented..is this a worrying sign?...
plus KMR formulas are not widely available where i live...can the homemade recipes be continued permanently or are they just a fix for emergencies i.e for 1 or 2 days only and cant be given on permanent bases....in the meantime goat,s milk would be a better option than cow`s..right??....

2..im taking care of the hypothermia...i havent let the room temp drop from 30...but what about hyperthermia....whats the limit for a < 2week old....
3...what about hygiene isues....i mean the kitten rolls around in its own pee...i try to clean him with a tissue soaked in warmish water and then dry it...but doing that 6,7 times a day is not possible plus i fear about him catching the cold.the cloth that ive laid on the floor underneath him(im keep him a large card board box with soft clothing on the floor) gets soaked every time the kitten pees..again i cant change it every time...any advice on that..any alternate bedding solutions??
4..daily exercise??..i mean he doesnt move much when inside the cardboard box..ligers around from one corner to another once or twice, then lays down...however the moment i put him outside,he rushing in all different direction...trying to climb on things and stuff....as again he has no fixed pee timings...there is always the danger to him peeing on the carpet, bedding etc once i put him outside(hes already pee on my bed once).
..i can use all the advice that u put forward...this is the first time ive had to raise an abandoned kitten and i absolutely know nothing about most of the stuff ...thanxxxxxxxx

Re: hello and help needed

cows milk is no good for cats and for babies, i would get him to a vet for the inflamed area as this needs to be looked at.

all the baby needs is the right milk kept warm feed every two hours and help to wee and poo.

you need help and i would say get to a vet asap.

Re: hello and help needed

Hi - as advised above I do think you need to get this baby to a vet. In the meantime substitute cow's milk for evaporated milk (diluted a little with warm water) - you could add a little honey to it for energy. If you have any Nutridrops you could give the kit some of these but do get to a vet asap.

I agree that a vet check would be a good idea - and goats milk would def. be better than cows if you cant get kitten formula.
I think the kitten must be older than 10 days though if he is running around and climbing on things - they cant even walk properly till they are around 3 weeks.
For bedding you really need something warm, like a fleecy blanket. you could also put in a small hot water bottle (well wrapped in blankets) to keep him warm. You could also keep the box off the floor, unless there is any chance the kitten could climb out.
