Kitten/Adult Food

I have 2 kittens, Mazie (7 months) and Mickey (4-5ish month). They were both eating wet kitten food but in the last few weeks they both completely stopped eating, in my attempt to get them eating again I bought some adult cat food which they love but neither of them will eat kitten food anymore. Is this a problem?

They do have James Wellbeloved kitten biscuits which they eat during the day. I don't want to be feeding them the wrong food but would much rather they ate.

Any advice would be good!

Thanks

Amy Lou

Re: Kitten/Adult Food

maybe mix the wet kitten with wet adult? or a different brand wet kitten food as Mickey could definately still do with the higher nutrition though Mazie is prob ok to switch now

Re: Kitten/Adult Food

I have tried all of the different brands but he won't eat it, I have also tried mixing it but he is not interested. He ends up taking Mazie's food!

He does eat the majority of the James Wellbeloved biscuits so do you think this could make up for it?

Re: Kitten/Adult Food

kitten food is a gimic - where in the wild would you see a bird with 'kitten food only' tatooed on it? - as long as the food is good quality then it doesn't matter wheter the food is adult or kitten.

EDIT: for dry then they do make the kibble smaller (this I concede is good)

Re: Kitten/Adult Food

If you think there wasnt kitty food around in earlier years and as long as its good quality they will be fine. Didnt do my nans cats as kids any harm all them years ago. It is a bit of a con really personally i think. Mine also will not touch kitten food other than a few dry biscuits so hes also on adult food and yes he preferes it also.

Re: Kitten/Adult Food

Thanks for your replies. I was wondering whether it was a gimmick or whether it was necessary. I don't feel so bad now!

As long as your cats are fit, happy and well then continue feeding them what they enjoy.

Re: Kitten/Adult Food

Generally once they have been neutered at 6mths they are fine to go on to an adult food. The kitten foods just have extra supplements for immunity and lots of protein in them. The Adult foods are as high in protein and have a higher carb content usually in the cheaper brands. Some foods like Bozita don't even differentiate between kitten/adult they just feed for both!
