Supplement foods
Hi
We got Lily, a persian from a rescue centre 10 days ago. She had been neglected and is very thin, you can feel her little spine, bless her. Her appetite is quite poor. On a good day she is having 2 pouches of food and crunchies in between. Can I get her any sort of supplement food that will build her up or should I just keep giving her what she is having and hope she gains weight?dawn 069.jpg |

Re: Supplement foods
Aww the poor little thing!
Just some good quality food should do the trick - HiLife pouches for example, or anything with more than 50% meat and no fillers or grains. You could add the Thrive treats, the chicken ones are just plain dehydrated chicken meat - my cat loves them, and I guess they would help her put some weight on. Or give her some raw meat - chicken with the skin on is nice, it has a lot of fat which is good ![]()

Re: Supplement foods
I agreed with Coraline, good quality food. You can crush the thrive treats over her meals to encourage eating.
You can also try some nurish-um paste.

Re: Supplement foods
Ah bless her. I would say a good quality wet food like natures menu and a good dried food for her to nibble on. I would also say worm her.
At least she has landed on her paws getting a home with you. Keep us posted on her progress, she looks very sweet. Best of luck with her. Izzie

Re: Supplement foods
My male is like that - can feel spine and hip bones. However I think he is naturally thin.
I worm regularly and feed high meat food (Bozita). What I have found helpful is getting him weighed regularly at the vets - it is free and they have a weighing machine specifically designed for weighing animals! The nurses do it. I try to get him weighed every 4 months or so and note his weight each time for my own records but also it gets put on his vet record. |
