Unhappy Poorly 7 week old kitten

Hiya,
One of my kittens has had diorrohea and sickness for about 3 days, I took him to the vets yesterday and she thought it could be because I give him Lactol kitten milk but yet the other 3 are fine and they also have this kitten milk, she gave him a jab of anti-biotics to stop him from being sick and having diorrohea. She told me to stop giving them the milk and to stop feeding them raw chicken, so they just have whiskers kitten wet food, however the poorly kitten wont eat from my hand or from the plate, he's just not interested, he's laid next to the heater on his little blanket, he's gotten so lethargic and skinny in such a short space of time.
I was worried about him not eating so i mixed some kitten food with water and put some in a syringe, he had 5ml of it, so im going to do this maybe every 2 hours?
If you think i could be doing any thing else, or think i should be feeding him more/less oftern please let me know, it will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Sarah

He doesnt sound well at all - can you take him back to the vets as it sounds like something serious?

Hope he feels better soon x

Talking Re: Poorly 7 week old kitten

Hiya,
I've just been in to give him some more food and he is very lively such a difference from this morning, so i put a plate with some food in to see if he had his appetite back and he was really tucking into it when he finished he was liking his mouth and had abit of a clean, so hopefully the anti-biotics have done the trick and he will be back to normal soon.
Thankyou for your reply
Sarah

Re: Poorly 7 week old kitten

I'm sorry to hear about your little kitten Although it does sound like he is feeling better. Can I ask, did the vets not give you any rehydration fluid? You can mix this up & keep in fridge for 24 hours. This may help by either giving him by syringe or adding to his food.

Hope this helps you & I hope that he continues to get better for you

Re: Poorly 7 week old kitten

I am so glad he is fine.
Kittens can get dehydrated very quickly and some die, especially if vomiting or have diarrhoea, it is always best to have some rehydration fluid on hand to be able to syringe feed it to them.
Always check for dehydration in poorly kittens.
HAND REARING KITTENS
Antibiotics are usually necessary too, to save them.

Ive had the same problem with diahriah in my bengals kittens and vomiting,my little girl passed away last week,it started when she was 6 weeks, constant trip to vets, antibiotics, vitamin injection, poo samples, blood tests, syringe feeding and hydration drinks you name it she had it,i decided last weds to leave her at the vets as she was vomiting so much.now ive just got used to her not beeing here, the other 4 kittens got diahriah yesterday and its a greenish/grey and are off there food,oh my life its heartbreaking i have appt in ten mins im so worried as little jazmine faded so quickly oh all her results were fine!!!!
