Re: has my vet over charged me?

i dont mind the cost as long as they put her first. i jjust want her to be fit and well again as she is my little princess but i just dont like the fact she had to wait so long to get her surgery. as iv had a second opinion from a vet as=nd even they said she shouldnt have had to wait that long. it shoudl have been next day priority

Re: has my vet over charged me?

I know someone whose dog just had to have its leg pinned, £1200 so I am not surprised at all. That was cast on, then pinned a few days later and no overnight stays.

Re: has my vet over charged me?

they are a massive clinic as they have like 5 places across south wales. and cats generally cost less than dogs anyway. because of dosage levels etc...

Re: has my vet over charged me?

Hi,

That sounds about right we are in Switzerland and the op on my boy to have his leg pinned was 1700 about £900 and rising, most of it now is aftercare costs. You need to find out how much should be included for after care costs, removal of stitches, dressings changes etc. My boy needs another op to remove the pins but i know his healing is going in the right direction now.

I hope she recovers, they will do everything to ensure she keeps her leg that will be their priority. Im in a similar boat at the mo so if you want to pm me please do.

Izzie

Re: has my vet over charged me?

thank you. does anyone know roughly how long it takes to sort out insurance claim as they want money upfront and well i dont have it so i will nede to argue the point of how long an insurance company can take to pay up!

Re: has my vet over charged me?

Hi,

Perhaps your insurance company can pay them directly. It seems a bit mad that you are insured and have to pay the money up front and then wait to get back off them. I would pursue it with your insurance company and get them to deal with the vets directly.

Any news on how she is?

Izzie

Re: has my vet over charged me?

have got in contact with my friend who is a vet and another vet and the rspca and they have all agreed there was no need to have waited that many days to do the sugery and it was bad practice so i have to question why they took so long to actualy do the operation. also they all said that £300 for precare before even having the operation was well to much and i need to question them again as they agree with me that its sounds as if they done it on purpose to get extra money. so not happy one bit! and she aint even better yet. there has ben no improvment

Re: has my vet over charged me?

Hi,

If another vet has said that then maybe they will be able to speak to the vets on your behalf and find out what her prognosis is,that would be my maine concern right now.

I hope she is ok for you, its so horrible to know she has suffered unecessarily.

Izzie
