Re: Really poorly cat

Hi, just a quick update to let you know that Archie is still hanging on in there. What a brave little fighter?! He has had a blood transfusion, which really seemed to help in his general condition and he is out o the oxygen tank which can only be a good thing. Unfortunately the x-rays of his chest are showing no signs of improvement for his lungs - but at least they don't show the condition getting worse... He really needs to eat as he is so weak, but unsurprisingly he doesn't feel like eating at the moment. After all he has been through I can'y blame him. He shiffs the food, and is lapping at the water bowl, but just wont take on any food. As a result he is very week so the vets are discussing the best way to get some nutrition into him. The main reason for him going to the specialist hospital, namely his broken pelvis, has had to take a back seat for the time being as they have been focusing on keeping him alive. They still think that he will need an operation to correct the fractures, but at the moment he is too weak for them to concider it. It is still fingers firmly crossed at the moment as he is, as they keep telling me, not out of the woods yet, but I am atleast feeling slighlty more positive as he has shown himself to be a total fighter. When I think about him being at the hospital, rather than at home with us, my stomach flips, but at least i know he is definitely in the right place. And he is getting lots of attention and cuddles which he loves! I'll post a proper update once I have spoken to the vets tomorrow. The lack of sleep over tha past week is rendering me rather useless at the moment! Thanks for all the positive thoughts and wishes, I really truely believe that they are helping!

Re: Really poorly cat

Glad to hear he's hanging in there, and sorry it's so stressful. Sounds like we will be watching the recovery of our cats together. We know ours has a broken pelvis (crushed, really), but don't know about the vitals because he is home. We will not do surgergy since it is too expensive, but simply watch and wait. Best of luck to your kitty, sounds like he is getting wonderful care.

You are doing so well and Archie is a little champ! It is very hard to keep positive but I hope we can all boost you up.

Make sure you look after yourself too. Get some rest when you can and feed yourself well. Its easy to get unwell when you are worried about a pet that much.

Izzie
