Re: What is the best dry cat food ??

Many people have different opinions on dry cat food for different reasons so a lot of its down to personal preference.

I use Hills which is one of the more expensive brands. I've tried Royal Canin but the cats prefered Hills for some reason. I know there are lots of others out there but haven't tried them with my two.

Re: What is the best dry cat food ??

only about 10% of my cats diet is dry if that - we use jwb. I wouldn't personally want to feed purely dry - i would worry about stress on the kidneys etc. But many people feed purely dry with no probs.

Re: What is the best dry cat food ??

My cats have arden grange available at all times, but mainly eat a raw diet (with forthgade wet added for good measure lol).

Other good foods are Burns & orijen (very high meat content i believe).

There will be so many opinions, i would choose the one you find most appealing and try it. But remember to make a switch slowly, and make sure its really essential to change.

What are you currently feeding? is there a reason for wanting to change?

Applaws and orijen dry are good, it has no maize or grain fillers like all the other crappy brands, i wouldnt feed any other dry food.

Orijen dry is renown for giving diarrhea though as well.

I feed all mine on the 'crappy' Royal Canin and they are thriving on it. Their coats are shiny, nice white teeth and are very energetic!! I feed Burns dry inbetween as well for a change.

IMO no such thing. If you want the best for your pets long term health, then a completely raw diet is the optimum, but a high quality wet diet ie wets with 50% + meat content supplemented with fresh either cooked or ideally raw is the next best thing.

I think it depends on the cat. Applaws dry also gives some cats diarrhea and Royal Canin was ok for all my cats except one. If you find one that your cats thrive on then stick with it but for cats the higher the meat amount the better.
