Re: cat flu quandry

Flu is transmitted via sneezing from an infected cat, so am guessing u are worried u would carry it on ur clothes... u should be fine esp if other cats are fully vaccinated.

Re: cat flu quandry

When we adopted ,cat flu was going round the RSPCA in one of their wings (happended to be the one Patch and Lucky was in and they escaped with a very mild case). Everyone was instructed to wash their hands after touching the cats in this wing before wanting to "visit" another cat & to see the healthy cat wing before the flu cat wing.

So as long as you wash your hands (with an anti-bac wash) before you visit your parents (no stroking goodbye on the way out) you should be fine. Think of it like visiting someone in hospital but the other way around.

Hope the cat feels better soon.

Re: cat flu quandry

i would agree with all the other posts but i would also say if your friends have not vaccinated there cats then they are asking for trouble, all cats should be done.

Re: cat flu quandry

Thank you for replies. I'm sorry to say after lots more research decided not to home that particular cat, I know the risks were low for other cats if hygiene standards are high but did forget to mention we are looking after friends unvaccinated cats for 2 weeks(visiting them in their own home). And yes I totally agree all cats should be vaccinated!

Re: cat flu quandry

Maybe if you explain to your friends that you couldn't take on this rescue cat because of the risk to their unvaccinated cats they may think twice about it and vaccinate!
