Lump :(

Me and my mum where stroking my cat Billy when she found a little lump on the back of his neck near his shoulder blades. We have never noticed it before. I am actually really scared now.

What do you think it could be. We will take him the vets tomorrow or as soon as possible.

Re: Lump :(

Can you part the hair to see if the lump is under the skin - or is there something there causing the lump - like a tic?

Re: Lump :(

I have checked him over and he does have fleas, out cats often get them because we have outdoor cats that always come in and out but we deflea them regularly. But he has never had a reaction to fleas like this so it could not be to do with them.

It is not visible on the skin, only if you feel it.

Could it be a dislodged micro chip.

He seems perfectly himself, purring, very vocal, eating, drinking, inside and outside so nothing strange about his behavior.

Re: Lump :(

if hes got fleas he may have a tic buried under the skin causing the lump.

Re: Lump :(

I dont think it is a tick, we live in london for one and have not heard of them hear. Also there is no mark on the skin, cant see any scar, or wound or anything.

It feels small but bigger than a micro chip but I am not sure.

Re: Lump :(

Okay, well don't worry yourself until you absolutely have to. It could be your cat has had a knock (caught himself going under something) and caused the lump - a bit like us getting a knock on the head - someone else had the same issue yesterday/today (sorry can't remember the poster).

Take him to the vets tommorrow just to be sure though and let us know what he says.
