Question Sneezing- is it bad?

I have been researching sneezing and have read so many different views on it so I am totally confused.

My kitten (who is almost 4 months old) has sneezed since the day we got her. When we went to visit her in her previous home we never saw her or any of the other cats sneeze.

I called the breeder and she said it may just be becuase its a change in her surroundings so not to worry but if it goes on longer than a week to speak to the vet.

I took my kitten to the vets one week after she came to us and she said it was nothing to worry about unless she had discharge from her eyes and nose which she doesn't.

She probably sneezes between 5-10 times a day that I see. In her self she seems fine, but I am now starting to worry as I thought if it was a change in surroundings she would have adapted by now.

She is fed on applaws dried, we have tried her on high life, tesco, best menu and applaws wet but she won't eat any of it.

Any help you can give me I will be very grateful for.

Re: Sneezing- is it bad?

do you use any plug in air fresheners? Or oil scent burners?

If she is in good helath otherwise she's very probably fine - but something is getting to her. Do cats get hayfever? I'm not sure.

Re: Sneezing- is it bad?

My cat sneezed a lot as well when I first got him. Like yours, he had no discharge from eyes or nose. I took him to the vets, who said the same as your vet said

The sneezing gradually stopped over a few months, I think when he was six months old it had pretty much stopped completely.

If you use a lot of air fresheners that will make her sneeze - and if her litter is dusty it may be worth changing for a different type.

If your cat is anything like mine, she'll grow out of it soon enough

Re: Sneezing- is it bad?

Hi,

If she seems healthy otherwise don't worry about her,it will probably stop, did the vet see if there was anything in her nose? sometimes cats can have polyps (little lumps) in their noses that can make them sneeze. It might be worth having it checked.

Definitely be wary of plug ins and sprays, apparently febreze is one of the worst offenders for causing allergies in cats.

Re: Sneezing- is it bad?

Thank you for your replies.

I am allergice to perfume and air freshners so we don't use them. Do you think they would be allergic to dust.

I have noticed that it seems to be more in the morning and evening which is the same as my allergies and I am allergice to dust.

I hope she does grow out of it.

The vet didn't look up her nose, do you think I should book and appointment so that they can do that?

Hi,

If its the same time every day I would say its an allergy but it might be worth speaking to your vet about it?

Re: Sneezing- is it bad?

One of mine sneezed constantly when I got him, it turned out the litter was far too dusty for him, it never bothered the other two though.

I've since changed the litter and don't use the last bit in the bottom of the bag and everything has been fine since.
