Strange (blood?)spots

Hi everyone,

Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on the following:

My cat likes to sit on the tiled window sill in the bathroom most mornings.

I've noticed little red spots on the tiles whenever she's been sat there, they look like small specks of blood.

Thing is, I've never seen this on anything else she's sat on (her blankets are a all of a white/cream colour) so surely if she was bleeding I'd have noticed it elsewhere around the house as well?

Have checked all of her paws (and backside) and can't see anything. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sounds to me like she may have fleas and that what you see is flea droppings - they contain a lot of blood so turn red when damp, which it would be in your bathroom I assume.

Might be worth putting a white sheet of paper under your cat and rub her fur, see if anything drops from it - that's what my vet did when he checked mine for fleas. If you can see small black spots on the paper she's probably got fleas and needs some treatment for it.

That's my thought anyway, hope it helps

Thanks Coraline,

I hadn't thought of that!

If they are flea droppings then that means that the Frontline has stopped working and I guess it's off to the Vet we go

Will give the paper sheet a try in the morning - bless her she's zonked out on the bed now - hope she's left me enough room lol.
