My cat is poorly :(

I have called the vets this morning, he is only 3 years old and has been not eeating for a few days and has been sick, initialy i thought it may be fur balls as he is an indoor cat. He seamed to be getting better yesterday and drinking water and keeping it down.Today he has again refused to eat but has had a drink of water, about an hour later its all over my kitchen floor
Charlie is such a greedy cat he will eat anything ! !
About 6 weeks ago when i was packing (i moved 4 weeks ago) he went into a box and took my babys teats ( 6 of them) out of the box and chewed them, i think he thought he would get some milk from them like my daughter does. Do you think he could have swollowed some of it and it has worked its way through and caused a blockage?
Oh i am starting to worry i hope the vets will know whats up with him.

Re: My cat is poorly :(

Hi, am so sorry your cat is poorly, sending positive vibes your way. Our dog Ruby has a thing for my sons dummys, on one occasion she managed to get one and chewed the rubber teat off, I didn't know this till I founf the plastic dummy in the garden minus it's teat. Anyway about a week later she went off her food, had loose stools and started wretching...low and behold she threw up the dummy teat, it was still whole and had expanded, we were so lucky as the vet sadi it could have been very serious for her so since then I had stopped my son from using dummys to make sure it never happens again so I think your cat could well be poorly because of this but I would have thought it would have effected it before now ??? Kepp us updated x

Re: My cat is poorly :(

Sorry i havent been on sooner to up date you all.
Well the vet wasnt sure but thought he could feel something in charlies abdomen he said it could be a blockage or it could be his lymph swolen, they admitted him and the vet said they would do an x-ray strait away and then depending on the findings operate even if the x-ray wasnt to show any thing he said he would have a look cause there was something not right.
So i had just got in the car and about 10 mins later the vet called the x-ray showed a blockage.
They operated strait away!
The vet called me at 6-20 sayed he had found the end of my daughters bottle teat and the charlie was now coming round from the op.
The vet said that the teat could have got stuck some where and then moved that is why he hadnt had any problems until now.
The vet said they havent had a cat with a problem like that and its very comon for dogs to swollow dummys.
I always knew charlie was different lol
He has suggested i give him plenty of cat milk to try and stop him getting at my daughters bottles.
I am going to call the vets in the morning to see how charlie is doing.
To top it all of its his birthday tomorrow he will be 3. poor likkle boy.

Re: My cat is poorly :(

Gosh how worrying. Isn't it awful leaving them at the vets, I'm sure they'd be better at home. I'm sure he'll be feeling much better now. Does anyone actually stay at the vets with the overnight animals?

Re: My cat is poorly :(

Yes i think there would be a nurse there as its an animal hospital.
But i could be wrong!
I've just read there web sight and it has a 24 hour out of hour service there, so would that mean a nurse is there to answer the phone and look after the animals in there?
