Re: My cat is poorly :(

Thank you all for your support.
He will be getting plenty of cuddles and lots of cat milk to try and stop him wanting daughters bottle teats.
Are cats allowed baby milk? I know they shouldnt have the milk we have, i am just wondering if he would be able to have it as is her milk that he is wanting.

Re: My cat is poorly :(

baby formula isn't the best for cats although far from the worst too.

I would stick with the cat milk (if fairly cheap from places like tesco) or even goats milk (doesn't have lactose in it) though to be perfectly honest it is only about 20-30% of cats who have a problem with cows milk... yes all cats will get an upset tummy if they have too much but if you look at size to milk ratio giving a cat a pint of milk is like you drinking 10 pints... I think you'd have an upset tummy too

My 2 moggy boys get a couple of egg cups of cows milk once in a while when I either don't have cats milk or whatever, roughly once a fortnight and never had an upset tum with them

Re: My cat is poorly :(

Well charlie is back home he is on 2 different antibiotics twice a day and has 3 pouches of chicken and rice food and he is to have 1-2 teaspoons every 2-3 hours. I've only been giveing him 1 as i dont want to give him to much. His 2nd lot of tablets he has realised they make his food taste funny, so i had to do it the more forceful way
Does any one have any other ways of getting them down him other than me haveing to open his mouth and putting them there and rubbing his neck?
I felt rotten doing it but i know he has to have them.
His mum growls and hisses at him now i think she wonders what has happened to him as he also has a funnel on his head.
Id like to think he has learnt from it.

Re: My cat is poorly :(

Charlie has been back to the vets today, his wound is looking ok his temp is normal, so hopefuly there wont be any infection.
He now has some eye drops as he has a weepy eye. Poor lad hes going through it.
His stitches will be taken out a week on monday and he is still only alowed 1/2 teaspoon of food every 2/3 hours.
The vet said to me today that he was bounding around in his cage at the vets the morning after his op so thats why he let him go home as normaly the would have kept him in longer. I can belive it as he dosent act like he has had such a major op now he is back home the first thing he did was jump up to the top of his scratch post and then jump back down.

Well charlie has finished his antibiotics, still only haveing 2 teaspoons of food every 2/3 hours.
His stitches will be out on monday,so he can at last have his protective coller off, i bet he will be pleased about that. His mum will stop hissing at him then i hope.
Ill be pleased when he is able to be fed properly again, and can have some treats.

Re: My cat is poorly :(

Hi,

Oh bless him, I would try him with goats milk or as the vet suggested cat milk. He probably has the weepy eye as he is a bit run down and vulnerable but I bet he will be fighting fit really soon.

Sending hugs to him.

Izzie
