silent kitten

Hi everyone

Winston constantly meows and winges so much so that we've renamed him winge-ston. He winges when he wants feeding/attention/his litter changed/to play/to go outside/to announce his presence in a room...bsically all the time.

Lola has been with us a while now and is now 5 months old. She has not once meowed since she has been with us. she constantly purrs very loudly and will occasionally yelp if Winton wrestles with her too agressively but other than that she is silent. When she wants food/to play/attention she'll just sit there silenty staring at you.

Is it normal for a cat to be so quiet?

Also, she is tiny compared to Winston who is only 5 weeks older. She's over 5 months old now and hasn't grown massively sibce we had her. how big should she be at this age? I've just weigher her and she is 1.6kg

Thanks

Re: silent kitten

Some kittens are just quiet as long as she is eating and drinking ok and all is coming out the other end ok I wouldn't worry. But if you are really bothered about it ask your vet when you take her in to be spayed. It may just be that she can't get a word in edgewise with Winston!! lol or she's telling him what to say!! HA!

Re: silent kitten

hi i have 2 female cats, missy is 18month and lexi is 7month, both my cats harly meow at all. in fact it is very rare come to think of it. they only ever meow when they want to come through a door that is shut for us to open it, or lexi sticks her pae under the door untill someone notices it bless her. theres nothing wrong with my cats so im guessin some cats just choose to be quiet. i also say the same about lexi been small, like i said she is 7month old and is still very small compared to missy, but when i asked at the vets he sed it was perfectly normal and cats dont all grown to the same size at certain ages... just like children dont! so dont worry bout it as long as your cat is happy

Re: silent kitten

Yes people don't worry.....

I have two cats Ella, doesn't stop twenty four hours a day. You call her name she miaows, she walks in a room she miaows, she wants something she mioaws......It never ever stops!!!!

Effie never mioaws, she makes the odd squek and pigeon sounding noise from time to time but she is very much a slient beauty....

Which is probably good, cos if I had two Ella's I would probably leave home!!

Re: silent kitten

You can have a actual conversation with Taz (bit of a language barrier mind ). She will mimic the tone of anything you say to her. And she's a chatty little madam I can tell you! I guess every cat is different!

Re: silent kitten

thanks everyone. I guess I'm just lucky then that she hasn't found her voice yet as I don't think I could cope with 2 kittens constantly talking like Winge-ston
