Hi, I was given a stray cat appx 2 mths ago. I thought she was pregnant as her nipples grew bigger. Her stomach seemed to also swell. I wormed her and frontlined her then a couple of weeks ago her belly seemed to shrink so I thought she must have just had worms. Well yesterday I frontlined her again. Today she didn't submit me to her usual morning tag team style wake-up and feed me call. I noticed that she started to breath heavily and has some vaginal discharge and what appeared to be contractions. This lasted about a hour then she has now settled down again. She had a bit of a temperature but that has also gone now. I have helped other cats give birth about 5 times so I'm not a novice but I was sure that she wasn't pregnant. Anyone ever heard of this?? I think the contractions are starting again? Is she miscarriaging? I am in Greece and a vet would be a last resort especially as after checking the frontline spray it has not been proved safe for pregnant cats! I told the vet she might be pregnant when I bought it.

Re: Urgent advice cat possibly giving birth
Thanks I'm just worried cause she is still slim, not thin just healthy can she really be pregnant? The dates are right and she was exposed to a male cat 2 mths ago. She appears to be in the early stages of labour? Anyone got any ideas?

Re: Urgent advice cat possibly giving birth
hi they do have a discharge when they go into labor, and they start with slow contractions and then they kind of keep getting worse until babies are born.
i use frontline on my pregnant cats as vets say it is safe. lets us know if you have babies, if she don't do anything, then you need to get her checked by a vet.
