Bruise on a Siamese kitten?

Hey all,

Probably a daft and pointless question, but I've never had Siamese before and I'm overly worried about him.
Anyway, this evening I noticed Logi has this red patch inside his ear. It looks like blood, but actually it doesn't come off. I can't see any cuts near the area, and all I can think it might be is a bruise? He did make a mammoth leap off the back of the sofa a few hours ago and crashed to the floor with a load of bits and bobs he grabbed on the way off a sideboard. Perhaps he hit his head on the way?

Does this look like a bruise to you? (can't say I've ever seen a bruise on a cat!)

Re: Bruise on a Siamese kitten?

From what I have seen bruises look pretty much the same as they do on people. That looks like he has shaved the top layer of skin off some how.

Woah! Like a friction burn maybe? How on earth!?!
It looks like someone has drawn on him with a red pen! Otherwise seems fine in himself.. apart from the weepy nose, runny poop and crusty corner of eye.. but those he's had a while now. Poor little fella.. Is going through the wars at the moment.

We're in the process of sorting out what food is best for him, and have done a mammoth cat food order to figure out what suits him. Applaws cans seem to be going well right now. We're back on solid poops today after the last 4 meals have been Applaws. Have ordered more of that and also RC Sensitivity for him, plus Bozita to try (although those mostly for other cat) It's tricky to work out which food was making him ill, but we think it is the Porta 21. His runny nose/eyes is also intermittent so we think it might just be a bit of allergy or stress from Lance (other cat) being stroppy with him. I know it must sound like he is all sickly and weak but really he's very lively and happy! He is off to vet on Thurs however.

Re: Bruise on a Siamese kitten?

I know what you mean, i have a cat who appears to not be able to tolerate so many foods. Whereas everyone else can eat anything and be fine!!!! Glad all is well with him, my siamese kitten is always in the wars too!

yes - I agree with the others - looks like a friction graze or similar! Mae has also had something similar, and for a few weeks had a nice big scab! I washed her graze with salt water and this seemed to help it clear up! It does seem at times that Oriental cats know how to get themselves into trouble!

Re: Bruise on a Siamese kitten?

Hi

If your cat has food sensitivities this can also cause skin problems. The red patch could be him scratching the area. Just a thought!
