I'm not sure if they carry this in the UK but the Vet gave us FortiFlora. It comes in individual packets and you sprinkle it on their food one a day. This was given in addition and after the antibiotics and antidiarehha meds. It's made by Purina. Good luck!

have you thought of feliway? if he is a gererally stressy person and you think the diarrhoea may be (at least partly) due to stress, maybe a feliway diffuser would help.
other than that, the sensitivity diet (im assuming thats what your vet has given you) should really help. good luck
