Re: The Final Word on cat food?!

Thank you everyone for all your help regarding the best wet food.

I don't suppose you could let me know which pet insurance you are all on? From my research apparently Tesco seems like the best deal?

Many thanks again!

Smile Re: The Final Word on cat food?!

hiya, my cat Scamps, loves the Lily's Kitchen foods. Unfortunately they only have two flavours at the moment, but they are the only foods Ive found that are actually certified organic. I read about them on the 'Cats with cancer' site, where the food was recommended as being the most pure/appropriate for cats. It's been really hard finding a decent food that Scamps will actually eat. He's a rescue and used to being fed on whiskers and all that other crappy stuff. since I've change to Lily's Kitchen he does look very handsome, I must say - pic coming later when I can find my camera!

Re: The Final Word on cat food?!

Thanks - in fact I went ahead and ordered from Berriewood the other day - have only just caught up with this thread (judging at a show yesterday!)
I think my cats will like the food - they are used to high meat content foods already
If not then I'll be offering it for sale!!

Re: The Final Word on cat food?!

Timmy has Tesco Luxury and he loves it, the meat/fish content is minimum 50% and is only £3.91 for 12 pouches, he especially likes the sardine and mackerel one and they don't smell too much either

He's insured with Petplan with their life cover which is £13 per month (had 6 weeks free through the rescue centre) and when it came to renewing they gave me two months free so thought it was a bargain especially as they cover alternative treatments (acupuncture etc.) as a lot don't. They said they wouldn't cover anything he had already had treatment for (which most don't) but the only problem he ever had was when he was attacked by a dog last year but he will never need anymore treatment for that as his leg was removed and they're underwriters said that was fine as there would obviously be no more claims for the injury.

You're now feeding her whiskas??? Yuk!! Sounds like she only likes junk food, time to put your foot down i think lol what meat percentage are they then, i though whiskas on average was a 4% meat content?

Re: The Final Word on cat food?!

I'd be inclined to be led by the cat. If they don't like it they don't eat it. My cat was rescued as a kitten and I got it from the RSPCA. She'd been fed Whiskers wet food so we continued with that but she got so she wouldn't eat it. We switched to Felix and for a while she would eat nothing else. Then suddenly she went off that and now it's back to
Whiskers.

She will eat some of the dry cat foods, but always leaves the little green balls. After having a dental check up last year and having 3 teeth out the vet suggested a special dry food made by Hills and another buy Royal Canin. I give her these now and one sachet of wet food as she asks for it. Last time her teeth were checked they were lovely and clean so I thoughly recommend these. Bit more expensive but worth it and if you buy a big one it works out cheaper and last for ages.

Re: The Final Word on cat food?!

Hi everyone....

Not sure if you are aware but Burns have brought out a wet food. Comes in a pouch in either Cod and Rice or Salmon and rice. (88 and 90 % meat content respectively)

We currently sell it in our high street pet shop and like all Burns food seems to be going down very well.

More info here
