Angry cat flu

Hi as a lot of you proberly know from my other posts i bought a cream persian male kitten on Saturday, I travelled from Birmingham to Somerset to collect him, i saw both his parents and all the other persians and BSH cats plus a chinchilla persian they all looked in very good health and where well looked after and just fantastic,
Harvey is 18 weeks old today the breeder was going to keep him but decided she had to many cats and a couple of them had kittens, so was for sale she advised me he had not had his injections and lowered the price of him to cover the cost, when we where there she said that he sneezed alot but was quite normal for persians he looked healthy and fine so it was left at that, now today took him to the vets for his 1st injection and it turns out he has cat flu i am so upset he has been put on antibotics and eye drops, he in himself has been fine eating and drinking well and playing with Alfie my other cat, i have emailed the breeder this morning but as of yet have had no contact back.

if he`s snotty and sneezing he`s very infectious to your other cats,he will need isolating.

Re: cat flu

if he is sneezing & no other symptoms Id prob look at the house dust/litter etc then get him tested for calci/herpes & chlamydia

as she will need to sort her cats out incase they have it to it costs about £120 for all 3.

Cats can live very healthy with it and never show symptoms, keep him away from all your other cat if you have any, just incase

Re: cat flu (update)

Harvey is so much better his eyes are clear and bright and he has stopped sneezing now he has seems to have made a 100% inprovement, he has still 3 days left on his tablets and eye drops so hopefully he will then be 100% healthy.
The breeder contacted me and said she took all her cats to be checked and came back all clear and she was sorry to hear Harvey was ill. She said she was very upset with her vet as when she took Harvey for a check up she was told his sneezing was due to his short nose.

Hiya Im glad he is getting better, sadly even if she did take them to the vet for a 'check up' they can still be carrys & still pass it on, the only way to find out is a eye & throat swab & have it sent off. Postives are Always postives but sometimes negatives can be wrong.......
