My cat is drinking loads of water

Lately my cat is drinking loads of water. Could this be because of the prednisone I give her to treat the IBD? Should I call the vet? I actually see her drink and she drinks really a lot. (she is nearly 8 years old)

Re: My cat is drinking loads of water

I’ve been to the clinic, my vet works at this clinic, the assistant looked it up and told me it was because of the prednisone. Will it be the case she still drinks a lot of water after I quit giving the prednisone, we’ll have to take a blood sample. So now I’ll wait and see…

Re: My cat is drinking loads of water

I'd get your cat checked out at the vet. Could be kidney or diabetes as both can cause a cat to drink more than usual. Also a cat that feeds on mostly dry food drinks more water.
Good Luck,
Mary

Re: My cat is drinking loads of water

Since a few days I gave Moeke ½ a tablet of prednisone instead of 1 tablet. All by prescription and she drinks less now. Still monitoring.
