I know it's a few in a day -but the variety seems to keep her satisfied. If she doesn't eat it - I lift it and store it until the next session. Some days she eats masses some days she barely touches it! She sleeps in the kitchen and that's when I give her her applaws (and anything she didn't eat in the day and I forgot to give her later)and I top up the dry if needed. Normally most of it is gone in the morning.

They can be terrible minxes though - Minnii is known for very rarely eating the dry so when I took her to the studs I took HI-life with me as I knew they fed Royal Canin dry (which she won't touch). At the studs she ONLY at the RC and refused the Hi-life, which she then wolfed down when she got home! ANd they say there's nowt so queer as folk - I think cats are worse!

Just keep trying and stick to a routine. Try different flavours of same brands but keep at it. She'll get there in the end. If you introduce anything new take it really slow so you don't upset her tummy. Good luck.
Thank you hun for your advice, i am at my witts end. It's so stressful as she hasnt eaten for 2 days and im so worried about her.

She is fine in herself and fit and well, just an absolute fussy lady!!!

she is!, having brought up 2 kids who mostly eat whatever they are given, its quite a shock to have such a fussy family member!! but shes eating happily now which is a releif cos for a few days she didnt really, and as she's quite shy I was a bit concerned she was really stressed, but as she's now lying on her back across my keyboard with her paws on me, eyes firmly shut - snoozing for England, Im guessing shes pretty relaxed now, so the eating with the wet food will come Im sure, am trying not to get stressy over it and just keep putting it down, she clearly loves her dry food so will just keep on trying to get her interested in some wet - typically Applaws tuna with shrimp she loves, she would!! Ive not tried to give them cooked fish yet tho, so will try at weekend and see how they go ... having had one child who in one day once ate nothing other than 11 strawberry yoghurts, Im guessing equally with cats everything evens out too lol!

Yes i will agree with the kids as i have 2 boys aged 5 and 2 and there have been some days when they have only eaten yoghurts!!! (not 11 mind)

I am going to try applaws and Hi-Life are my next victims but think it will be too rich for her but will give it a go. xx

I really dont want to go down the road of fresh fish and meat as is so expensive. xxxx

Re: Dry food and vets advice?

I feel for you Kathryn!! cos you are trying not to watch what they are eating! I potter about and watch out the corner of my eye!

Im obviously no kind of expert, but the advice Ive been given on here has worked brilliantly, Snugs is eating some wet, not much, and mostly the fish ones, but she is eating it - Hilife and Applaws, try not to get too disheartened, I know its easy to say but I guess we cant force them to eat what we give them, and they wouldnt starve themselves on purpose I guess, but I do know exatly how you are feeling and it is a worry, keep us posted how shes doing!

I know what you mean, my only thing with Applaws, although its fantastic quality and they love it, is that its complimentary, but as they are eating Hilife and JW dry thats complete Im sure its perfectly fine as part of a balanced diet, but they absolutely love it!

My kids are 11 and 8 now, my youngest had a few days of refusing to eat but they dont do it for long do they? I ignored it totally and he soon got bored, so am hoping same will work with Snugs turning her nose up at Hi Life, she did eat a little Chicken and Liver this morning tho, so maybe its gradually coming!

These wet foods @ zooplus maybe suitable.

"Special hypo-allergenic wet cat diet with a high compatibility even for the most sensitive and allergically prone cats."

Kattovit Gastro 6x 175g: Great Deals on Kattovit Cat Food at zooplus

or

Kattovit Sensitive Protein 6x 175g: Great Deals on Kattovit Cat Food at Zooplus

I don't know if the integra sensitive would be sensitive enough but this is the link anyway-

Integra Canned Cat Food at zooplus

Royal canin make some wet foods so they might do a wet hypoallergenic version too.

Thanks for that - I'll look into it. I just went along with what my vet was saying and never thought to question it until I read the various threads on here!

No one is advotaing spending £££ each week on cat food. However, as will no doubt be pointed out if you cannot afford to look after your pets then ......

On a cost basis £ for £ quality food is more cost effective that cheap food, whilst the £ per kg is lower for cheaper food you generally have to feed more as there is less nutrients for the cat to absorb this can be seen in the amount of junk that comes out of the back of your cat on cheap food compared with the amount on a quality food.

In addition the quality of food can affect your cats health over time and whilst you may be saving on food costs in the short-term you can be building up large vet bills in the longer term.
