help with my new female cat

I recently got a cat, a 2yr old female, we have had her about a week, and have noticed that her teats are pink and quite prominant, and her belly has become bloated, as anyone got any ideas what it can be, I now that she could possibly be pregnant (but are not sure of the signs)but was wondering what else it could be, I asked lots of questions about her, but her owner never mentioned that she had been a mum in the past, or that she thought she may be pregnant and the only thing that as changed is her diet she was fed purely on dry where as now we give her a mixed diet, so if any one as any thoughts on this it would be appreciated, thankyou

Re: help with my new female cat

Just from that description, it does sound as though she could be pregnant. From about 21 days onwards from conception their teats pink up. Do you have any pictures of them ? Do you think this has just happened or were they possibly like that when you got her? If you can tell roughly when they pinked up you can estimate when the babies are due (vets are not great at doing that).

I would wait a couple of weeks and pop her to the vet for a scan or a feel, see what they think.

Where did you get the cat from - did they indicate whether they had had her spayed though from the sounds of it the answer is no!

Re: help with my new female cat

Not much doubt about her being pregnant, from those pics!!
You can usually see/feel kitten movement from about 7 weeks, so keep a close eye on her. She might be 5 or 6 weeks but it's hard to tell accurately without a scan.

Re: help with my new female cat

It may be my monitor, but I detect slight discolouration on her white around her teats, which says to me she has had a previous litter, and maybe not that long ago. But I could be over analysing it.

She looks very well and very happy in her new home.
