Dinky maine coon

Just wondered if anyone on here could tell me what the average weight /size of a Maine coon girl would be. Our Mimi is tiny - as in small and lean. Just weighed her and she is 3KG.

What age should she be fully grown? (she's just over a year old)

Re: Dinky maine coon

Hi there

She should be fully grown/mature by the age of 4-5 years. How old is she? it could depend on her breeding as to her size as there are people who breed smaller maine coons.

Re: Dinky maine coon

Hiya, sizing can vary very much between bloodlines to be honest x

at a year old i've had girls range from 3.8kg to 5kg, though i'm sure some have larger than this and with breeding girls it all depends on calling early too as that can bear a great burden on weight gain if they start young x

as Dream has said Maine Coons are full grown at about 4/5 years old - usually weighing in at that point at anything between 6/7+ kg for girls (again depending on bloodlines and other environmental factors) and boys can weigh A LOT more - maybe 8-10 i think it is x

Can i ask what you feed yours on? i think food can play a large part in it x

But as said some bloodlines seem to produce smaller - and then there's also the factor that sometimes pet quality kittens somewhere along the lines have been used to breed x

she's not a truly bad weight but she could be bigger - however i do tend to find that it's usually anything after a year and 3/4 months that they start to blossom a little more x don't panic too much, they are slow maturers xx

Thank you, thats very reassuring

She is fed Burns kitten at the moment.

Looking at her pedigree, she is Goldstar,Royalbrooke and Avismar lines. (which means nothing to me lol!!).

Re: Dinky maine coon

wouldnt worry too much, ive had quite a few maine coons who have had a sudden groth spurt...as they grow upto 4 years of age so anything is possible (as Lou said they are indeed slow maturers)....my tortie MC girl was small at 1 years old but is now bigger than a lot of the males out there

and i feed them on royal canin

one of my boys has goldstar and avismar in his ped (grandparents) and he took a while to spurt himself but after a year and 2 months he flourished - so don't worry too much x

The food you feed is ok too so don't worry about that - give her a couple of months and see what happens xx
