Re: My poor little baby Coco
You should clean the eye of gunk and crusties, to keep it open. If allowed to get stuck together the infection builds up behind the eyelid and causes problems. Use boiled water that has been cooled so it is sort of blood temperature. You can add a little salt into the water. Some people swear by cold tea (no milk) too. If both her eyes are infected use a different bit of cotton wool for both. If the eye does get stuck together don't force the eyelids apart, bathe them apart.
Was the kitten vaccinated before you got her ?

Re: My poor little baby Coco
No she was not, when i got her she was very healthy she had clear bright eyes but her eye had a small amount of gunk the next evening. I took her to the vet afew days later as it was getting worse even tho i was cleaning it. The vet gave me a cream but within afew more days the eye was not to good. This week I have been to the vet 3 times and it was confirmed on thursday she has flu.
Since getting her i have done allot of reading and realise she should have stayed with her mother untill 12-13 and had her jabs. I would only ever buy again from a propper breeder but the lady I got her from was very nice and all her cats were well lokked after. |

Re: My poor little baby Coco
She may well have seemed healthy when sold, but the stress of changing homes at that age, can bring anything the kitten has been in contact with out. At least you have got her prompt attention and she is getting all the treatment she needs
Have you contact the person who sold her to you to tell them about her problems. I take it the kitten came without insurance as well.

Re: My poor little baby Coco
Hi - I know how distressing it can be, my little siamese kittens got a dose of cat flu at 15 weeks, despite being vaccinated against it but they pulled through and are totally fine now! Their eyes cleared up with some drops after a few days but they both stopped eating after the antibiotics which made them even worse so hand-fed them and within 3 or 4 days they really improved. I hope Coco gets better soon!

I dont really no what to do, she is worse today....
she's really sneezing with a runny nose and her eye is worse than yesterday. the third eyelid is almost covering her eye now...... i'm sure the vet think's I over protective, they said to bring her back if she go's off her food. which she has not, i'm soooooo worried about her. :-( |
