Re: very very long story (ring worm)
You only have the breeder's word she is giving up. I would report her to GCCF.
If you really want to get back the costs you could go through the small claims court. I haven't done it but have heard it is actually quite simple. |

I don't really want to keep persuing her as she will not admit that the kitten had ringworm when it left her so I keep going round in circles with her and she will definately not pay up. I'm back to the vets again tonight to pick up the rest of my cats meds and I've asked them to provide me with a copy of the culture results and a report written by my vet to say that 2 days after purchase I took my kitten to the vets where after examination it was evident she had ringworm and that they severity of it would not have developed within 2 days of her being home with me. I'd just want the breeder to do the right thing and contact the other owners to let them know about my kitten and to get theirs checked, though with the stigma surrounding ringworm I doubt very much that this will happen ![]()

Re: very very long story (ring worm)
If you want her to do the right thing then you have to report to GCCF. If you don't, and who is to say she is giving up breeding, then you are doing all those future kitten buyers from her a diservice.
Ring up the GCCF and talk to someone if you want advice. |

Re: very very long story (ring worm)
I am going to contact the GCCF I'm just waiting until I get some questions answered by my vet tonight first as to the validity of what the breeder has told me.

Re: very very long story (ring worm)
Thats okay.
Breeder has just rung..our vets have spoken to each other and as a gesture of goodwill she will pop £50 in the post for me...do you think this is to buy my silence?

Re: very very long story (ring worm)
I would still report her as well. If your kitten wasn't the only one in the litter then there will be others in a similar position to you. If she is not being honest about giving up, then you may not be the last either.

Re: very very long story (ring worm)
Wouldn't most breeders WANT to know if anything were wrong with their kittens so that they can tackle it rather than hide their heads in the sand, ignore it and build up a bad reputation for themselves?
As a buyer, I can easily see it from your viewpoint. All you want is the truth, some advice and a token gesture to admit what happened together with an apology perhaps. As a breeder, I cannot understand why someone would shoo away a person who has bought a kitten in good faith and who wants to raise a query. I'd far rather sort it out. |
