How much should I feed a 14 week old kitten?

Just wanted to check I'm giving him enough because I'm sure he'd eat loads more if I let him! I don't want him to get overweight but equally I don;t want him to go hungry and I'm not sure how his needs are changing as he's growing!

Today for instance, he has had 1.5 pouches of Hi-Life kitten, 0.5 of a tin of Applaws kitten and a small handful of Orijen dry food. Does this sound enough do you think? He wolfs the wet food down in seconds though only eats the dry when he gets really hungry!

I would think he'd need more like 3 pouches per day - at least! Kittens do eat a lot, probably more than adults. You just need to spread it over 3-4 meals.
i must admit I just feed my cats when they look hungry (i.e. are crowding round the empty food bowls and yelling at me!)

Re: How much should I feed a 14 week old kitten?

It's just that on the Hi-Life box it says by 12 months they should be having 2-3 pouches per day, so I was working on the assumption that he doesn't need that much yet so he generally gets 2 pouches or as today, I substitute some Hi-Life for some Applaws or Porta 21 or plain fish/meat, plus there is Orijen down at all times. If you think he might need more then I'll give him more - it's just the vet cautioned me about overfeeding and said generally the amount it stated on the box is more than they really need!
