Picky cat

Okay - my Minnii is being a minx food wise - she is being incredibly picky and I wondered if anyone had any suggestions to get her appetite back. We have tried
Hi-life, Applaws, Tesco premium, cooked chicken, raw chicken, raw lamb, JWB, cooked turkey, and even Sheba (bleurgh). I don't want to start offering her the rubbish stuff. She has eaten all the list above with gusto at other times and I couldn't believe it when today she turned down Applaws as that has been her favourite treat before.

Any suggestions anyone?

What I have been told is to not give so much variety so that this prevents them from being so picky. Find one that she is more or less eating to some extent and just give that kibble instead. just a suggestion!

I do understand where you are coming from however, I don't want to feed mainly dry (I have it just as a supplement only and only put down a little at night). I have found that, unlike dogs, you can't make a cat eat food by refusing to change it - they seem happier to starve! The trouble is that Minnii is eating so little - today 1/2 a tin of applaws (big tin) and 1/2 a packet of Hi-life mixed in. There is a slight possibility that she may be pregnant (been back from the studs for 2 weeks) so again I want her to eat. Maybe she is feeling sick.

She doesn't get a wide range every day - these foods have been offered over a few weeks/ months.

Thanks for the advice anyway - i do apprecaite it.

Maybe she really is just having an off day where she has no appetite? See how things are tomorrow.

Hi Spid,

My lot are exactly like this - one minute they love the raw mince & chicken i've been giving them, and then they'll turn their nose up at it!! I've bought every kind of wet food available on Zooplus but have yet to find one they'll gobble up!!

At the moment they are enjoying the Tesco finest chicken and fish range!

Hi, I know this can be an issue with cats, it may be a result of the mating. One trick I used to use is to sprinkle a little freeze dried treat on to the food, or some salmon oil, or some liquid fron a tin of Tuna in spring water. Nowadays I just feed chunked raw rabbit is any of my brood turn their noses up at their meal.

Re: Picky cat

Mine like Bozita and have for months - which I am really surprised about.

All I can suggest is keep at it and maybe ring the changes of foods you have found they will eat

Re: Picky cat

Mine are the same, what one likes, the other doesn't care for. But finally tonight I came home, and gave them Tesco finest and it was all gone in one sitting. Usually it's a few mouthfuls then off they run.

Thanks for al the advice - today Minnii is eating - I found some HI-life fish at the back if the cupboard and she wolfed it down. So maybe just a bit under the weather the last few days - who knows.
